NIGERIAN EDUCATION LOAN FUND (NELFUND) FOR STUDENTS OF HIGHER EDUCATION
INVITATION TO APPLY
This is to notify students of the University of Lagos that application for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) by the Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced. Interested students who wish to leverage on this opportunity are encouraged to apply immediately. The purpose of the loan is to give equal access to higher education for all eligible candidates and to reduce financial stress on students and families. It will also enable successful applicants to have some stipend during the academic session.
Overview of the student loan initiative
The Student Loan Initiative is a program established by the Federal Government of Nigeria to break financial barriers in higher education. Through the provision of interest-free loans the Federal Government is fundamentally reshaping the educational landscape for students’ benefit.
Application procedure
The simple steps to secure the student loan are:
1. Register on the Student Loan Application Platform by clicking the ‘‘APPLY NOW’’ button to get started.
2. Click on the ‘‘REQUEST FOR STUDENT LOAN’’ button and complete the loan application step and submit
3. Your application will be reviewed. After successful verification, payment will be made to your institution for institutional charge, while the upkeep loan will be paid to the bank account you have provided in your profile.
Important information
During the 2023/2024 academic session, the University of Lagos Management magnanimously acceded to the financial request of indigent students and assisted those who could not afford to pay (part/full) their obligatory fees. Please note that there will be no provision of such arrangement from the 2024/2025 academic session.
