Conference venue: Museum of Natural History – Anthropology and Ethnology Section, University of Florence, Via del Proconsolo, 12 – FLORENCE
The museum is hosted in a palace located in the heart of the city center, in the area that includes the Florence Cathedral, Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, Bargello, and the Basilica of Santa Croce.
Thanks to its central location, the palace is easily accessible by public transportation. On foot, it is approximately a 15-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella railway station.
The conference will take place in an ancient Florentine palace whose construction began in 1593. Despite the involvement of distinguished architects, including Bernardo Buontalenti, some parts of the building were never fully completed. For this reason, it became known as “Palazzo Nonfinito”, the name by which it is still referred to today.
For about a century, the palace has housed the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology of the University of Florence, which preserves valuable ethnographic collections representing the cultures of peoples from all over the world, comprising a total of approximately 25,000 items.
