The 2026 Arcetri Workshop on Plasma Astrophysics, reaching its 16th edition, as usual will explore theoretical topics in plasma dynamics with an emphasis on solar, heliospheric and galactic problems of current interest. Contributions based on simulation, observation, and fundamental theory are welcome.
The sessions' topics include:
Origin and evolution of the solar wind
Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, other present and future missions
Turbulence, reconnection, plasma waves, instabilities, and theories of dissipation
Solar energetic particles, cosmic rays, and particle acceleration
Plasma astrophysics
Laboratory plasmas and connections to astrophysics and space plasmas
As in previous years the workshop will be held in the Aula A of the Garbasso building of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Largo Enrico Fermi 2, Firenze. This is located on the beautiful Arcetri hill, near the villa where Galileo Galilei lived his last years.
See here for a map.
The conference fee will be tentatively of about 250 euros for the full week, social dinner included (usually on Tuesday evening), or 50 euros for single-day attendance. The last day of Friday 13 will be devoted to discussion, catering will be subject to the number of participants.
