Ana Paula Bortoleto, Ph.D.

Ana Paula Bortoleto is a civil engineer by training (2003, State University of Campinas) with a Master of Engineering degree (2006, the University of Tokyo) and also a PhD in Environmental Engineering (2009, the University of Tokyo). She has worked as a research fellow at the University of Sheffield (2011, EU FP7 Marie Curie Fellowship) and the Max-Planck Institute for Human Development (2013, Alexander von-Humboldt Fellowship). In August 2004 she took up her appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Infrastructure and Environment at the University of Campinas. Her work is concerned with understanding pro-environmental behaviour concerning waste generation, focusing on everyday life and the socio-technical systems that shape it. The research engages with psychological theories, life cycle assessment, technology innovation, water-energy-food nexus, and literature on governing structures and processes. Her research and writing have covered waste prevention, climate change, sustainability and environmental, water-energy-food nexus, economic and social impacts of waste management.

Francisco Contreras, Ph.D.

Francisco is a Professor at the University of Brasilia. His research focuses on Life Cycle Assessment applied to Solid Waste Management Systems from Climate Change and Circular Economic Thinking. Graduation at Environmental Engineering from Universidad de Santiago de Chile (2001), master's at Applied Environmental Measurements Techniques from Chalmers University of Technology (2003) and doctorate at Urban Engineering from University of Tokyo (2007). Has experience in Sanitary Engineering, focusing on Solid, Domestic and Industrial Residues, acting on the following subjects: integrated solid waste management, life cycle assessment, organic waste, solid waste management and greenhouse gases.

Victor Alexsander Oliveira Silva, M.Eng.

The Joint application of the General Scale of Ecological Behavior and Life Cycle Assessment for the analysis of responsible consumption, CAPES Doctoral Student, NEPAM/Unicamp.

Victor is an environmental engineer (2018, University of Brasilia) with a Master of Engineering in Environmental Technology and Water Resources (2021, University of Brasilia). He is currently a doctoral student at the University of Campinas. His research focuses on sustainable consumption towards reducing associated Greenhouse gas emissions, under life-cycle assessment (LCA) and behavioural approach, aiming to achieve the 1.5 Degrees target from the Paris Agreement. He has experience assessing different urban systems through LCA, especially MSW management and household food consumption sectors.

Heline Laura de Sousa Martins, M.Eng.

Heline is a doctoral student at the University of Campinas. Her research is related to waste prevention and life cycle sustainability assessment, discussing from an epistemological perspective and considering the foundations of the term sustainability. She is an environmental and sanitary engineer (2016, Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas) with an environmental technical course. Her master's research was related to the environmental performance of plastic waste, evaluating the circular economy and life cycle for waste prevention.

Nathalia Moreira dos Santos, M.Sc.

Cooperation and shared responsibility in solid waste governance: Collective action under the Intermunicipal Consortium model, CAPES Doctoral Student, NEPAM/Unicamp.

Nathalia is a biologist at the University of São Paulo (2010) with a Master's in Coastal and Oceanic Systems from the Federal University of Paraná (2013). She is a doctoral student at the University of Campinas, researching collective action on waste governance. She focuses on how cooperation and shared responsibility work for the success of a public policy implementation and for achieving socio-environmental health. Her work experience involves geoscience, ecology and environmental governance. In 2018 and 2019, she held a FAPESP Fellowship of Technical Training at the State University of Campinas, working with landscape analysis and socio-ecological systems.

Laíze Lantyer Luz is an academic and lawyer whose career has been marked by a deep dedication to studying and practising Environmental Law and Social Policies. She has a CAPES scholarship from the PDSE Programme - Sandwich Doctorate Abroad Programme at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, Portugal. Laíze is currently a Social Policies and Citizenship doctoral student at the Catholic University of Salvador. She develops research that engages directly with contemporary socio-environmental challenges.
