Accomodation for the ESPCA Nonlinear and Quantum Photonics will be provided through Matiz Hotel, which offers an appropriate and comfortable structure for hosting participants during the event at walking distance from the campus.
Selected participants will be accommodated from November 15th to 27th, 2026, ensuring proximity to the event activities and facilitating daily logistics. All official activities will take place in the same location.
Participants will be required to stay at the official venue, and rooms will typically be shared by two to three participants.

Campinas, a vibrant city in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, is home to the prestigious University of Campinas (UNICAMP), one of the leading universities in Latin America and a major hub of academic excellence. Founded in the 18th century, Campinas has grown into one of the largest and most dynamic cities in the region, with over one million inhabitants and located about 100 km from São Paulo city. It stands out as an important center for science, technology, culture, and innovation in Brazil.
Beyond academia, Campinas offers a rich cultural scene, with theaters, museums, and art galleries that reflect its history and artistic diversity. The city also features a vibrant gastronomy, with a wide range of restaurants and cafés serving both traditional Brazilian cuisine and international flavors.
The event will take place in Barão Geraldo, a district internationally recognized for hosting UNICAMP and several research and technology centers. The area provides a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, with tree-lined streets, cafés, and easy access to cultural and natural attractions. Campinas uniquely combines urban life with green spaces and a mild tropical climate, making it an ideal setting for walking, social interaction, and outdoor leisure after daily activities.
Airfare (for international participants and those traveling from outside the state of São Paulo) and ground transportation (for participants based within São Paulo state) will be reimbursed.
Selected international students are expected to purchase their own economy-basic-class tickets. Reimbursement will be provided up to a maximum of USD1,100.00, converted to Brazilian reais based on the exchange rate on the purchase date.
If your ticket exceeds this amount or you have special circumstances, please contact the school organizers in advance to discuss possible arrangements. Reimbursement is conditional upon attendance at the school; participants who do not attend will not be reimbursed.
The main international airport is São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU). Campinas/Viracopos Airport (VCP) is closer to UNICAMP but has limited international flights. If no direct flight to VCP is available, we recommend flying to GRU.
Ground Transportation to UNICAMP
From GRU: The most convenient option is the LIRABUS service (Terminal 2, “Cumbica” route), with frequent departures. Uber is also available and typically costs between R$200–300.
From VCP: The campus is nearby, but public transport requires multiple connections. We recommend taking a taxi or Uber, with an estimated cost of R$60–100.

If you arrive in Campinas by bus, you will likely arrive at the main bus station, the Terminal Rodoviário de Campinas (Terminal Multimodal Ramos de Azevedo), located in the city center.
Transportation from the Bus Terminal to UNICAMP
Uber/Taxi: The most convenient option. The trip takes approximately 20–30 minutes and typically costs around R$25–40, depending on traffic and time of day.
Public Bus: Direct routes such as line 3.32 (Rodoviária–UNICAMP) are available and run regularly throughout the day . Travel time is approximately 40–60 minutes.
