The NOMEN project

Project NOMEN (funded by MIUR in 2019 under the PRIN 2017 programme) employs the recently introduced concept of enhanced second order nonlinear optics with metal-less nanoantennas and metasurfaces to develop new platforms for nonlinear photonics applications.

We shall address four main challenges in this exciting research field: efficiency, resonant enhancement, beam control and tunability. NOMEN will fulfil such ambitious goals by engineering both near and far field patterns of isolated nanoantennas and by demonstrating all-dielectric metasurfaces operating at room temperature and featuring a complete tenable control over the spatial, polarization and frequency properties of the nonlinearly-generated photons.

The project is coordinated by the University of Brescia in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano, CNR and the University of Pavia.
