The Laboratory is involved in several research fields, such as the development of new techniques for measuring acoustic properties of materials, the sustainable deployment of noise-emitting strategic infrastructures, and the acoustic characterisation of past and present theatres and auditoria.
The research has a strongly experimental flavour, and most of the measurements are performed with the wide range of instruments available in the Laboratory.
International cooperation agreements are presently in place between the Applied Acoustics Laboratory and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) of Stockholm and the Catholic University (KU) of Leuven.
Some of the main research topics and selected international publications are listed in "Topics" and "Publications" sections.
