The second part of the International School took place online and was structured as a project work to improve the physical and virtual accessibility of the monastic complex of Astino and its valley (Bergamo).

The project work aimed to overcome a simplistic view of accessibility to embrace a systemic and transcalar approach. The main object of study was the monastic complex of Astino, considered not only in its architectural dimension, but as part of a larger system, including spatial and social elements of the entire surrounding valley. The participants divided into three groups and focused on three different scales of analysis of the object of study: the system of external connections to the valley, the valley and the monastery itself. 

They identified strengths and weaknesses related to accessibility, both physical and virtual, and developed a set of proposals for improving accessibility that could be concretely proposed to institutions in the future.
