I had a great experience with my wellness coaching! My appointment was with Megan, and she was extremely welcoming from the start. We began by discussing what wellness coaching entails, and explaining what we were going to do throughout our appointment. She explained how wellness coaching would be in my hands, but she would be asking me questions to further my thoughts and progress throughout the session.
As we went through the session, she was extremely supportive and made my thoughts and feelings feel heard. We went through my different strengths from my strengths assessment, going into depth on specific examples, where each of these strengths lay within different aspects of my life. Taking these strengths, I chose three that I felt I could work on the most in my life. Taking this information, I created a goal.
Megan worked with me to create a SMART goal, explaining how and when I would achieve my goal. About a week following my session, I received a Follow-Up email from Megan checking in to see how I was doing with my goal attainment. I thought this was very thoughtful and shows how much she cares about me attaining my goals!

I scheduled my first appointment with Megan without much background on what wellness coaching involved. I was sent the preassessment and the strengths assessment, which was a fun little personality test about my best areas. I was a little nervous right before the meeting, but Megan was so kind and eased my worries.
During my first session, we reviewed my strengths assessment and the eight dimensions of wellness. Then she had me select three dimensions I felt I had room for improvement in and helped me set a goal in one of the dimensions. I chose the physical dimension to attempt to get better quality and more consistent sleep.
In the following sessions, we reviewed the sleep diary Megan encouraged me to keep looking for patterns and consistencies with how my daily actions affect my sleep. Then she helped me tailor my behaviors to maximize my sleep quality, and we began to see positive changes in the journal.
Finally, Megan reviewed my progress with me and provided further resources to continue achieving my goal. This included Wellness Coaching's new sleep kit, which includes sleep masks, a small journal, ear plugs, and essential oils. They assisted me in achieving my goal and improving my daily experience.

My experience in wellness coaching was great! I set up an appointment with Megan, but our scheduled day fell on a day of severe weather in Cedar Falls, so we could not meet in person. However, Megan was super flexible, and we were able to meet over Zoom so the session could still go on as normal.
Over the course of our session, she was super supportive, and wanted to make sure we were covering the areas that I most needed support in. Prior to the meeting, I was asked to complete a survey that highlighted my character strengths, and which ones I needed to work on improving. This survey was very helpful for both myself and Megan, as it allowed us both to see what areas to focus on. Using the character strengths list, Megan and I began working on a goal together.
Talking over my strengths and struggles can often lead to nerves, but Megan was open and willing to talk about how I can work on them. One thing she said that I really appreciated was that, through looking at the character strengths I most and least displayed according to the survey, the lower numbered entries were not "weaknesses" per se, but just lesser strengths. Instead of looking at them as something that needs to be completely changed or added, it's just a foocus to pay a little more attention to to improve. Her saying this made me feel much better talking about the lower-numbered strengths.
After she assisted me in formulating a SMART goal, the session came to a close. She provided me with more information in a follow-up email, and was interested in hearing how mmy goal went moving forward. The entire experience was a great one, and one that I think many students on campus would benefit from.
