University of Northern Iowa Cheer Tryouts 2024-2025

Doors open: 10:30 am 

• Participants check-in  (you must be registered to check-in)

• Turn in the tryout waiver or complete the tryout waiver if you haven't already (you must complete a tryout waiver to tryout)

• Get tryout Number 

• Stretch/wait for tryouts to start

Doors close and participants are ready: 11:00 

Review tryout schedule: 11:05 am 

Review materials: 11:10 am

• All participants will go on the mat and do the cheer and fight song a few times 

• Warm up any tumbling 

• Return to lobby 

First Round Cuts: Evaluation of Fight Song, Cheer,  and Tumbling

• Everyone will be evaluated on their highest running tumbling pass, highest standing tumbling pass, the cheer, and fight song full out twice. This will be done in groups of three.

• After evaluation, first-round cuts. 

• All participants who are not moving onto second-round cuts will be asked to leave the field house.

Second Round Cuts: Evaluation of Stunting 

•  Those chosen for second-round cuts will be evaluated on their stunting skills.

• This will be done in two groups based on stunting positions.

• Group A will start and Group B will have the chance to leave the field house to eat, once an hour is done Group B will need to be ready for their one hour of stunting which will give Group A the chance to leave the field house to eat.

• Once both groups have finished both Group A and Group B will be asked to wait in the field house until the judges have made their final decision.

• After evaluation, second-round cuts.  

• All participants who did not make the team will be asked to leave the field house.

Team Meeting

• Those who made the team will have a team meeting in the field house. 

• Last year's coach/es will introduce the new coaches/captains.

• Team Introductions

• Go over and sign the cheer constitution

• Get everyone's phone number and email address

• Get everyone's gear sizes
