The Golden Ratio

The Golden Ratio...What's so golden about it?

This inquiry guide was created to provide you with digital resources to inform you about the Golden Ratio and Fibonacci Numbers for our math unit. It will also help you to create and answer your own inquiry question regarding the Golden Ratio. There are eight stages of inquiry that this inquiry guide will take you through based off the book, Guided Inquiry Design: A Framework for Inquiry in Your School, and they are listed at the top of the page (Kuhlthau et al., 2012).

This inquiry-based learning unit meets Common Core Standards as well as the following American Association of School Librarians (AASL) Standards for the 21st Century Learner:

1.1.1 Follow and inquiry-based process in seeking knowledge in curricular subjects, and make the real-world connection for using this process in my own life.

1.1.6 Read, view, and listen for information presented in any format (e.g. textual, visual, media, digital) in order to make inferences and gather meaning.

1.3.5 Use information technology responsibly.

1.4.2 Use interaction with and feedback from teachers and peers to guide own inquiry process.

2.4.3 Recognize new knowledge and understanding.

3.1.1 Conclude an inquiry-based research process by sharing new understandings and reflecting on the learning.

Where possible, I have directly linked to videos, databases, and search engines. If a link isn't working, please let me know, and I will get it fixed as soon as I can. Some databases do require usernames and passwords - if you don't already know these, please stop by the library, and I can share them with you.

To store your work and research, you will be using an interactive inquiry log in Google Docs. Please make a copy of the inquiry log before you start working through this inquiry guide.
