Can My Intern Sub for me?
Interns are not to be used as substitutes prior to the mid-term evaluation and then only with the university supervisor’s permission.
What do I do if my intern is late?
Student teachers are developing professional behaviors. They are expected to be on time every day. If they are late they should contact you with a valid reason. If this becomes a problem please alert their university supervisor. This will not be tolerated and is part of professional dispositions.
Who do I talk to if there are problems?
If you have questions contact:
University Supervisor as assigned
Krysten Gorrivan Certification and Placement Officer kgorrivan@une.edu (207) 602-2515
Lane W. Clarke, Academic Director, School of Education lclarke1@une.edu (207) 602-2682
Do I need to stay in the room when my student teacher is teaching solo?
It is important that interns experience what it feels like to be in the classroom on their own. Ideally we would like them to be on their own in the classroom as much as possible during student teaching.
This Power Point walks you through the expectations that the UNE School of Education has for you as a cooperating teacher. It addresses what to do before, during and after your experience with your intern.
