The Vision

The moon is rising on a new era of education. For three Saturdays in October, we are calling all magical educators to step out of the mystery and into the moonlight. 

This is The Shadow Quest: a journey to unmask the hidden barriers and brew a new kind of empowerment. Using the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), we are transforming our practice through magic, mystery, and the mastery of our craft.

We, at Under the Hat, believe that:

• "Clarity is Kindness," 

• no student is a "problem"—only the barriers are, and 

• if a system serves tradition over truth, we are obligated to change it.

The Format 

• Three hours of sessions, three weekends of laughter and learning, one competition, and zero dollars to attend. 

• Professional learning in a choose-your-quest format. You can:

  • follow along with the show to learn side by side with Steve and Sophie (no registration required; learn what we show), 

  • follow a curated path that aligns with your goals (register and gain access to all learning paths), or 

  • map your own learning (register to watch what you want). 

• Only registered audience members can access the full map and join the competition.
