Angel is a second year PhD student in UNC Greensboro's Counseling and Counselor Education program. She is passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion in all spaces, especially in counseling and educational settings. Angel has dedicated her research to promoting DEI in these areas. In addition, she is a mental health and addictions counselor in Winston-Salem, NC, where she specializes in identity, substance use, and general mental health concerns.

Amelia G. Mathis, LCMHCA, NCC

Amelia Mathis (she/her) is a first-year doctoral student at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) in the Department of Counseling and Educational Development. Amelia is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor – Associate (LCMHCA) in the state of North Carolina. Amelia's background is in clinical mental health counseling, trauma, and addiction counseling. She has clinical experience counseling individuals and families and specializes in supporting clients who have experienced trauma and those struggling with substance and process addictions. Amelia currently provides equine therapy to clients who have experienced trauma. Amelia's research interests include moral injury, counselor bias, religious trauma, and trauma counselor self-care.

Megan A. Whitbeck (she/her) is a third-year doctoral student at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) in the Department of Counseling and Educational Development. Megan is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Registered Counseling Intern in the state of Florida. Megan’s background is in clinical mental health counseling and psychosocial rehabilitation. She has clinical experience counseling individuals, couples, and families, and specializes in supporting clients diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness. Megan’s research interests include empathy fatigue, crisis intervention, organizational wellness, and instrument development.

Alex Moore, M.S., LCMHCA, MT-BC

Doctoral Research Apprentice 

My name is Alex Moore (She/Her/Hers). I am a first year Counseling and Counselor Education doctoral student at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. In May of 2021, I received my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UNCG. In May of 2019, I received my bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from the University of Georgia. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Associate (LCMHCA) in the state of North Carolina as well as a nationally board certified music therapist (MT-BC). My research areas of interest include the incorporation of music therapy interventions into traditional counseling clinical practice, LGBTQ+ issues, and trauma-focused work in the field of counseling.

Calise, M.A. 

Doctoral Research Apprentice

Hello! my name is Calise (She/They) and I was born and raised in Southern California until I moved to Louisiana to complete my undergraduate degree at LSU in Psychology and Sports Studies. I am coming here to Greensboro after completing my Masters degree at the University of Denver in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Diversity and Social Justice Counseling. My research interests include Queer identity development, the lived experiences of women, athlete development and program evaluation.

Cat Salemi, M.S., LCMHCA

M.S. Student Team Member

Cat Salemi (they/them) is a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, pursuing their Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. They received their B.A. in Psychology from Warren Wilson College in 2018. Cat is primarily interested in researching the mental health and wellbeing of transgender and gender-diverse individuals and how mental health professionals can most effectively help this population. They are also passionate about integrating research with clinical practice.
