Welcome

Welcome to my website! I am Marina Lambrinou, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the School of Education and the Center for Equity, Leadership, and Social Justice in Education (CELSJE) at Loyola University Maryland. I am currently co-leading a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded study examining the experiences and resistance behaviors of Latina students in Engineering programs across six different institutions spanning three different state contexts, utilizing a LatCrit intersectional framework combined with a Community Cultural Wealth (CCW) theoretical model and phenomenological inquiry. We also study these experiences in relation to STEM climates, institutional cultures, and the policy contexts of the states involved.

My work lies at the nexus of immigration and education policy. Specifically, I study how undocumented and mixed status youth perceive and experience enactments of immigration policies within restrictive state policy contexts. I explore the nature of the nested contexts (historical, political, and socio-cultural) that shape how undocumented and mixed status students experience policy. I am also interested in investigating the racialization of immigration policies, as well as delve more deeply into how educators and K-12 institutions respond to policy based constraints. My scholarship aims at highlighting the voices, perspectives, and lived experiences of migrant youth from undocumented and/or mixed status backgrounds, underscoring their agency as policy actors who deserve a seat at the policymaking table.
