How to pronounce my name: sai-edh-dah fah-teh-mah moh-zoom-dahr (she/her).
About Me: I am teaching Computer Science courses at one of the HBCUs in North Carolina, USA- Johnson C. Smith University. I pursued my PhD in Software & Information System at University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), NC, USA. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Yes! I am from Bangladesh. Our food is awesome!
Research Interest: My broad research interest is in Computing Science Education, STEM Education, AI Education. I have developed an approach to analyze learner's mental models in a quantitative way. Currently, I am interested in learning how to improve the designs of notional machines to help learners improve their mental models across the domain of programming and AI literacy.

News!
I showcased a physical interactive paper model of primitive variables in Java using Makey Makey and Scratch at K-12 Carolinas STEM Teaching & Learning Conference. Check out the video of the model.
I joined J.C. Smith University as an instructor of Computer Science.
I just defended my doctoral dissertation.
I am available in the Job Market from Fall 2024!
I analyzed the correctness of novice programmers' mental models of arrays and found novice programmers' mental models of the array's hidden state changes are less correct and consistent than the parts (structure of the array) components. This finding was accepted for publication in SIGCSE 2024 titled: The Correctness of the Mental Model of Arrays After Instruction for CS1 Students.
As part of investigating novice programmers' mental models of arrays, I identified several misconceptions that were found in my data. I presented the results in a full-length research paper titled: "Incoming CS1 Students’ Misconceptions on Arrays" in FIE 2023.
I just defended my dissertation proposal in the Spring 2021.
This year got significantly slowed down with COVID-19, mine is not exceptional while working from home with a toddler. I was working on developing a test that will measure novice programmers' mental models on array. This got published as a poster in SIGCSE 2021, titled: Eliciting a novice programmer's mental model of array.
Yay! I am really excited! One of my papers related to my dissertation has been accepted to publish at ITiCSE 2020, Trondheim, Norway! This work is really close to heart. More info coming soon!
I was working on a Journal Paper with Dr. Celine and it has been accepted to publish at JAMA internal medicine! Here is the title: Security and Privacy Issues Affecting Adult Patient Portal Accounts in US Hospitals: A cross-sectional national survey
Two of our Peer Reviewed Posters got accepted for publication in SIGCSE 2020! See you at Oregon!
Our work-in-progress paper "Salient Measures of an Engaged Computing Education Community" is accepted for publication in FIE 2019.
