About Us

What is A  Makerspace?

The CCI Makerspace is a place for UNC Charlotte community members to freely explore fabrication technologies and make things that interest them. We have 3D printers, laser cutter, sewing machines, electronics, and offer training, workshops that center around these technologies and what you can do with them, free of charge.

We provide filament for our 3D printers, but we require users to bring their own materials for the Epilog Laser Engraver. Please see our equipment page for more information about our space!

If you are interested in fabrication, have an idea for something you want to make or are curious about what goes on here, stop by! Training signups are located on our homepage.

Meet Our Team!

AbeL

Hunting down that dreaded White Squirrel. Can be found modding remote controls or printing useless knickknacks. CCI in degree, an engineer at heart.

ALUMNI

The photographer being photographed.

Gable

Gable Brown is an avid idea guy, always thinking of cool stuff to do, then realizing it doesn’t solve a problem. His major is Computational Science with a Bioinformatics concentration, and he enjoys midnight runs to Amélie's, milling with the CNC Router, and backpacking.

Elliott

Elliott Hillmann is a mechanical engineering student whose passion is designing robot technology to improve living standards and aid in future discovery. Aside from technical projects, he also enjoys spending time outdoors longboarding, trail hiking, and rock climbing.

Emily

Self-proclaimed "artist that happens to be good at math." Has been observed making armies of origami cranes, cooking cuisine she doesn't have the tools for, and creating spreadsheets to track her imaginary spending. Currently advocating for a Makerspace chicken to keep her company.

Rachel

Rachel Bare is a first year graduate student getting her Master's in Biology. She makes prosthetics, loves anything with stripes, and will pet any animal that will let her (giraffes included).

Sydney

Sydney Garrell is a first year Masters student in Biology. She enjoys working with The Helping Hand Project to create 3D printed recreational prosthetics, and hanging out with her dog. She never leaves the house without her hater shades.

Shima

Shima Seyedehshima is an architecture student who likes illustrating and making physical models. She also likes to design posters and flyers! Pilates, growing plants and watching Game of Thrones are her favourite hobbies.

Even his snowmen are fashionable.

Le

Le Hoang (left) is an illustrator, animator, and an aspiring educator. He spends the majority of his time reading manga, browsing the web for things he can't afford, and practicing martial arts in his backyard.

Ask him about his robot hand.

Paul

Paul-Louis Azra a computer science student and a multidimensional weirdo. If you ever need to bribe him, bring food. There is nothing that satisfies Paul more than participating in creative endeavors of any kind. From coding to cooking, growing plants and petting cats, he does it all. Except elevators, he doesn't like elevators.
