My work as a communication consultant has given me the opportunity to introspectively examine myself as a both a writer and speaker. The work that I have done within my public health program has equipped me with many foundational tools in communication practice that can be used in a multitude of situations, including an understanding of communication theory in small group, interpersonal, and public speaking scenarios. Additionally, my continued pursuit of an English minor has given me the competencies needed to engage in effective written communication and has offered experience in writing in multiple styles and formats such as literary analysis, professional reports, research papers, and reflective papers as well as APA and MLA. In practice, I view myself as an exceptional written communicator and a versatile oral communicator whose interdisciplinary approach allows for a more comprehensive understanding of communication as a discipline. This portfolio demonstrates my continued development as a communicator and showcases my role as a consultant at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have outlined a number of goals and professional development activities that continue to expand upon my knowledge and give me further experience in communication practices.
