Per the recent updates through Mecklenburg County and the University, there are limited mask requirements. The GRS will be limiting capacity in certain rooms, but we will also have supplies like masks and sanitizer available should you require it.
We ask that you treat all presenters with courtesy while they present, and place your devices on silent/airplane mode. However, while we do encourage electronic note-taking and taking pictures, as long as it does not disturb the presenter.
At registration, you will receive a welcome packet that has your room assignment inside. If you’ve lost your room assignment, find a Graduate Research Symposium volunteer, and they will assist you! For oral presentations, laptops, projectors, and screens will be provided.
For each presentation, 15 minutes is allotted. There will be timekeepers in every room to notify you when the end of your time is approaching. You should allot 10-12 minutes for your presentation and approximately 3-5 minutes for questions.
We ask that you stay in your scheduled room for the entirety of each presentation, to avoid disturbing the speaker. If you are presenting at multiple sessions, we ask that you wait until after the next speaker is finished before leaving your assigned room.
In order to avoid taking down a poster before being judged, we advise all presenters to leave their posters up for the entirety of the session.
If this is the case, please find the nearest GRS volunteer and let them know.
