"I hate writing, but I love having written."

Writing in My Discipline (35%): You will give an oral presentation on academic writing in your discipline. For this presentation, you will interview someone with a terminal degree in your field of study, as well as use credible sources, for your information. You may complete this project by yourself or with a classmate/classmates from your discipline.
Writing Academic Introductions (35%): You will use the literature in your discipline to create an argument for proposing a new research study in your field; you will then use this argument to write an introduction to a research article.
Writing Resumes & CVs (20%): You will draft and revise a resume or a curriculum vitae (CV). You will receive supportive feedback on your writing from your classmates, the Career Center, the Writing Resource Center (WRC), and our teaching assistant (TA).
Participation (10%): Participation is your active engagement in course activities both during class time (e.g., class discussions, in-class writings, and group work) and outside of class time (e.g., writing conferences and our Canvas discussion forum); it also includes how prepared you are for class, i.e., completing and reflecting upon the readings and homework in advance. Active participation in this class is expected, encouraged, and rewarded.
