What is #Givingtuesday?

Financial support from the UNC Asheville community is essential to maintaining a dynamic campus and providing a meaningful student experience. Private donations provide scholarships, research stipends, classroom and equipment upgrades, and so much more. This support comes from alumni, parents, faculty and staff, friends, and businesses.

#GivingTuesday is a campaign to demonstrate how committed the campus community is to student success. It is an opportunity to express gratitude for those that have made a difference in our lives and pay it forward to the next generation. It is a celebration of what can happen when we work together.

Why We Need Your Help

The more people spreading the word, the better! A personalized “ask” or call-to-action from a friend or classmate is more meaningful than an email or letter from the university. The involvement of our GiveCampus Advocates is crucial for the success of #GivingTuesday, so thank you for your willingness to help!

Without the support and volunteer time of people like you, UNC Asheville would not be able to offer a world-class, liberal arts education to thousands of students.

Sample Social Media Posts

Matching gifts & Challenges

A great way to encourage your friends to join you in making a gift. You can match gifts dollar-for-dollar up to a fixed amount, or enter the email addresses of specific people to match only their gifts — perfect for challenging your peers!

Example of a Match: I will match up to $X,XXX, $1 per $1 donated, until the campaign ends.

Example of a Challenge: I will give $X,XXX if the campaign gets another 100 donors within the next 5 days.

Look for buttons to create matches/challenges under the campaign video or on the 'Advocates' tab.

Personal Plea Videos

Making a plea video is one of the easiest and most influential ways to raise awareness and encourage people to make a gift – just look at the impact these Bulldogs made during previous campaigns!

Making a plea video takes very little technical knowledge and is not a sophisticated production. You don't need a fancy camera or high-tech equipment. Smartphones work great!

To upload your personal plea video: From the 'Advocates' tab, click the button that says 'Create your Personal Plea.'

To share your personal plea video: Click the 'Watch Personal Plea' button beside your name on the Advocates tab and use the links provided. GiveCampus will also email you a link to your plea video.
