You can pay almost everywhere with cards (credit or debit). However, in the campus only debit cards are allowed.
You can get some Argentinian pesos from ATM’s (there are some in the airport). It would be convenient to have some cash for some small purchases (maybe not more than €100).
If needed, some of us at FAMAF may exchange some euros for pesos.
We will try to pick up most of you from the airport. If this is not possible, then:
One option is to take a taxi, but most of them should be paid in cash.
In the arrival hall, there are private car services (cars with drivers) to get to the city (they are called “remises”). You can pay them with cards.
The workshop will take place at FAMAF, in Ciudad Universitaria.
We suggest having lunch in the campus in Marconi Bar (just across the street from FAMAF).
There are other options in the campus, a little bit farther away.
Trip on Saturday
We are planning an excursion on Saturday 8/3: this includes lunch at Chacra de Luna (in the nearby city Colonia Caroya) and a visit to a “estancia jesuítica” in the city Jesús María. The prices are: lunch, $35.000, bus: $15.000 (approximately). More details will be given during the workshop.
Argentina uses Type I power plug and socket. The standard voltage in Argentina is 220 V at 50 Hz. Please bring a universal travel adapter.
Some supermarkets in the neighbourhood where you will stay are:
Disco (Estrada 66)
Disco (Ituzaingó 701)
Carrefour Express (Ituzaingó 921)
Carrefour Express (Obispo Trejo 1166)
Carrefour Express (Independencia 869)
Entresano (vegan products) (Estrada 36)
There are a lot of options in the neighbourhoods Nueva Córdoba and Güemes. All of them are within walking distance. See, for example, here, here and here. For vegan food: here.
Patio Olmos (at walking distance)
Nuevocentro Shopping Center (not so much at walking distance, but not so far either)
