Odor Setback Model

Dr. Teng Lim and colleagues of Purdue University have developed an odor setback interactive website, to predict odor setback distances between swine facilities and neighbors. Please see the introductions at:

Purdue Interactive Odor Setback Model Introduction

The interactive odor setback model for commercial swine operations can be found at:

Purdue Interactive Odor Setback Model

What does this mean? Odor setback model can be used to predict distances required between a proposed livestock barn and the neighbors, to avoid potential odor nuisance complaints. This is helpful to evaluate a potential construction site or even expansion.

Teng and colleagues at Missouri have been helping to evaluate odor setback distances for various production facilities and sites, please contact Teng (limt@missouri.edu) for more information.
