Research
Our research focuses on understanding the biosynthesis of lignin, a key cell wall constituent with essential functions on growth, development, and resistance to various stresses in plants.
Work in the Barros laboratory has three major goals:
To improve food and feed crops for stress tolerance, nutritional quality, and root carbon sequestration.
To develop bioenergy crops for sustainable production of fuels, chemicals, and bioproducts.
To generate trees with improved properties for paper pulp production.
