Accounting Centre Research Seminar is an annual event held by the Accounting Centre of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy. The one-day seminar served as a platform to gather leading academicians, scholars and researchers to share their knowledge, ideas, innovation as well as to discuss current development in their respective fields. In addition, this seminar also offers opportunities for academicians and industry experts to meet, interact and enhance their networking with both local and international participants for possible future collaboration, and exchanging ideas from diverse backgrounds, expertise and research niche and areas. 

ACARS 2023

Kota Kinabalu, 05 September 2023, An accounting research seminar was organised by the Accounting Centre, Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) with the aim of providing a space for UMS academic staff in the field of accounting to present the results of the research that has been and is being carried out. In addition, the seminar also involved presenters and participants from several local institutions of higher learning namely, UiTM Shah Alam Selangor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) and Universitas Andalas, Indonesia. The total number of seminar participants was 28.

Sixteen (16) papers were presented by the academic staff of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, UMS; Accounting Centre UMS, Faculty of Accountancy, UITM, Puncak Alam, Selangor and Universitas Andalas, Indonesia. Apart from the presentation of the papers, the seminar participants were also able to take the opportunity to exchange ideas as well as gain networking in the field of accounting research. This year's seminar is the sixth seminar held since 2017.

Kota Kinabalu, 05 September 2022,  An accounting research seminar was organised by the Accounting Centre, Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) with the aim of providing a space for UMS academic staff in the field of accounting to present the results of the research that has been and is being carried out. In addition, the seminar also involved presenters and participants from several local institutions of higher learning namely Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Puncak Alam Selangor, UiTM Shah Alam Selangor, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Beaufort Vocational College, Almacrest International College, AMC College and University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF). The total number of seminar participants was 25. 

 

Thirteen (13) papers were presented by the academic staff of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, UMS; Accounting Centre, UMS; Faculty of Accountancy, UITM, Shah Alam, Selangor and Faculty of Accountancy, UITM, Puncak Alam, Selangor. Apart from the presentation of the papers, the seminar participants were also able to take the opportunity to exchange ideas as well as gain networking in the field of accounting research. This year's seminar is the sixth seminar held since 2017. 

ACARS VOLUME 4 2022 

ACARS 2021

Accounting Centre of Faculty of Business, Economic and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, had successfully organised the fifth annual Accounting Centre, Accounting Research Seminar (ACARS) though the virtual seminar.  The one-day virtual seminar was held on the 9th September 2021.

A total of thirteen (13) academic working papers and research were presented by the participants from academics with diverse background and areas representing universities such as the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, UMS, Labuan Faculty of International Finance, UMS and the Faculty of Economics and Business, UNIMAS.

ACARS 2020

Amid the spread of COVID-19, the Accounting Centre of Faculty of Business, Economic and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, had successfully organised the fourth annual Accounting Centre, Accounting Research Seminar (ACARS) though the virtual seminar.  The one-day virtual seminar was held on the 7th December 2020.

A total of Seven (7) academic working papers and research were presented by the participants from academics with diverse background and areas representing universities such as the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, UMS, Labuan Faculty of International Finance, UMS and the Faculty of Economics and Business, UNIMAS as well as from University of Malaya.

ACARS 2019

The third Accounting Centre, Accounting Research Seminar (ACARS) was held in Kota Kinabalu, on the 29th July 2019. Twelve (12) academic working papers were presented by academics and postgraduate students from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, UMS, Labuan Faculty of International Finance, UMS and the Faculty of Economics and Business, UNIMAS. 

ACARS 2018

The 2nd annual Accounting Centre, Accounting Research Seminar (ACARS) 2018 was held in Kota Kinabalu on the 30th July 2018. The event was conducted at the  Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). The seminar gathered participants from other local institutions of higher learning such as Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) and Inti College Sabah. 

A total of seventeen (17) working papers were presented during the seminars which covers broad range of accounting related issues.

ACARS 2017

The first Accounting Centre, Accounting Research seminar was held on the 31st July 2017,  by the Accounting Centre, Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah.  The one-day seminar involved the participation from various academics and students such as Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Universiti Teknologi MARA Sabah and University College Sabah Foundation and University of Malaya.

The seminar started off with a keynote speech entitled “Contemporary Issues in Accounting Research: The Way Forward” by Professor Dr. Rasid Hj. Mail, Dean, Centre for Postgraduate Studies, Universiti Malaysia Sabah who is also a Professor in the Accounting field at Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah.

A total of nine (9) working papers were  presented during the seminar.

The Accounting Centre Research Series (ACARS) is an international refereed journal, published once a year by the Accounting Centre of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Malaysia. Its aim is to publish scholarly research on accounting related issues which are relevant to Bornean Region specifically, Malaysia and the Asian generally, especially those providing practical implications to promote better business decision making and public policy formulation.

The journal covers a broad spectrum of accounting areas and its sub-areas. A suggestive list of areas include, but not limited to the followings:
