LCC Got Talent: FFML Edition

Description of the competition:

This competition is opens to all Public Universities (UA) and 4 Government-Linked Universities (GLUs) in Malaysia. It is a platform for all the students to showcase the foreign language(s) they have learned via performances. LCC Got Talent provides an open stage for everyone to have fun, to showcase their talents and also to win the prizes! The theme for this year UMPSA LCC 2024 is Fairytales, Folklores, Myths and Legends. There are SIX (6) language categories which are Mandarin, German, Japanese, Arabic, Spanish and Bahasa Melayu (for international students only). Within each language category, participants can choose to either perform in FFML Fashion Show: Get into Character OR sing a song in FFML Singing Category OR act in a 3-minute sketch in the FFML Sketch Category. Only finalists will be called to perform physically at UMPSA LCC 2024 LCC Got Talent Competition. It is compulsory for the finalists to come to the Sport Centre, UMPSA Gambang Campus, a day earlier for the Full-Dress Rehearsal.

• To develop confidence in applying language learned through practice to perform required performance in LCC Got Talent: FFML Edition categories

HOW TO PARTICIPATE?

Participation:

Individual/Group

2 to 3 minutes

Categories:

Category 1 - FFML Fashion Show: Get into Character 

Category 2 - FFML Singing

Category 3 - FFML Sketch

Competition Guidelines:

There are no fees to join this competition.

CATEGORY 1 - FFML FASHION SHOW: GET INTO CHARACTER

1. Participants are required to portray a fictional character from any Fairytales, Folklores, Myths, and Legends, and deliver a creative presentation about that character within a duration of 2 to 3 minutes in any of the SIX (6) language categories.

2. Submissions for the FFML Fashion Show: Get into Character can be made in any of the following SIX (6) Language Categories:

• Mandarin

• German

• Japanese

• Arabic

• Spanish

• Bahasa Melayu (for International Students only)

3. The performance must be accompanied by a slideshow featuring English translations.

4.  Finalists will be chosen based on Creativity and Originality, Adherence to Theme, Stage Presence, and Audience Engagement.

5. Only finalists will be invited to perform live at the UMPSA LCC 2024 LCC Got Talent Competition.

6. It is compulsory for the finalists to attend a Full-Dress Rehearsal at UMPSA Gambang a day prior to the event.

CATEGORY 2 - FFML SINGING

1. Participants are tasked with performing songs preferably related to Fairytales, Folklores, Myths, and Legends. Creativity in attire to match the theme is encouraged.

2. For the Screening Stage, the YouTube video must have English subtitles. For the Final Stage, the performance must be accompanied by slides displaying an English translation of the lyrics.

3. Submissions for FFML Singing can be made in any of the following SIX (6) Language Categories:

• Mandarin

• German

• Japanese

• Arabic

• Spanish

• Bahasa Melayu (for International Students only)

4. The song can also be a mash-up of different songs within the same language category.

5. Finalists will be evaluated based on Vocal Technique (Pronunciation), Musicality, Adherence to Theme, Stage Presence, and Audience Engagement.

6. Only finalists will be invited to perform live at the UMPSA LCC 2024 LCC Got Talent Competition.

7. It is compulsory for the finalists to attend a Full-Dress Rehearsal at UMPSA Gambang a day prior to the event.

CATEGORY 3 - FFML SKETCH

1. The sketch performance must not exceed a duration of 3 minutes.

2. Participants will be provided with various prompts to develop a Sketch in any of the following SIX (6) Language Categories:

• Mandarin

• German

• Japanese

• Arabic

• Spanish

• Bahasa Melayu (for International Students only)

3. English subtitles are required for every sketch, regardless of the foreign language used.

4. Finalists will be judged based on Creativity and Originality, Adherence to Theme, Stage Presence, and Audience Engagement.

5. Only finalists will be invited to perform live at the UMPSA LCC 2024 LCC Got Talent Competition.

6. It is compulsory for the finalists to attend a Full-Dress Rehearsal at UMPSA Gambang a day prior to the event.

SUBMISSION

• For submission, all participants must upload their performance video (Fashion Show, Singing, or Sketch) to YouTube and paste the YouTube URL/link into the entry form provided on the website. 

• The deadline for online submissions (for screening purposes) is 22 October 2024 (Tuesday) before 05:00 p.m.
