Description of the competition:
Big Book & Read-Aloud Video Competition is a team competition of 3 - 5 students. There are 2 parts to this competition: (1) to produce an A3-sized big book of 15 to 20 pages using simple language for CEFR A1 learners as the target audience and (2) produce a read-aloud video of the big book.
As a team, students can choose to write in any of these 6 foreign languages they have learned (i.e., Mandarin, German, Japanese, Arabic, Spanish and Bahasa Melayu – only for international students). Students must include the English translation of the chosen foreign language. In other words, this is a bilingual big book.
Similarly, in the Read-aloud video, there must be English subtitles. To win, the art must be consistent, and the story must be creative even though it is written in simple language. Students can write on any topic such as shapes, weather, food, body parts, animals, occupations, time, shopping, etc.
Objective(s):
