Description of the competition:
This is an internal competition that is only open to UMPSA students based on all the languages offered as well international students participating through CIR. It offers students the opportunity to showcase language and culture through UMPSA LCC 2024 theme, Fairytales, Folklores, Myths and Legends. This competition also highlights the diverse societies in this country and how much we can learn from each other.
Objectives:
To cultivate confidence in public speaking and interacting with others
To foster creativity in designing language and cultural activities centered around the given theme

Competition Guidelines:
There are no fees to join this competition.
The competition is exclusively for UMPSA students and is limited to internal participation.
SEVEN (7) booths are available for participation, each representing a different language: Mandarin, German, Japanese, Arabic, Spanish, English, and Bahasa Melayu.
Each participating team must consist of TEN (10) members, and accurate personal information must be provided on the registration form.
The registration form requires participants to upload a list of at least FOUR (4) proposed activities for their booth.
The activity proposal should detail out:
Name of each activity
Objective(s) of the activities
Leaning outcomes of the activities
Participant changes are not allowed after submission unless due to emergencies, such as health issues (with a medical certificate), death of an immediate family member, or official withdrawal from the competition.
Each team must designate ONE (1) responsible representative to join the WhatsApp group for competition notifications.
Teams will be evaluated on booth design and activities.
Evaluation criteria include booth design and activities, both of which should align with the UMPSA LCC 2024 theme of Fairytales, Folklores, Myths, and Legends.
At least ONE (1) moderator must be present in each booth during the event, with an assistant moderator available if needed.
Teams are encouraged to use recycled materials for booth design.
Booth assignments will be determined by drawing lots, and booths will be located in the Sport Complex, UMPSA Gambang.
Booth activities and costumes must align with the UMPSA LCC 2024 theme, and noise levels should be kept moderate to avoid disrupting other activities.
Each booth must offer engaging activities, with point values assigned to each activity and stamps provided accordingly for participants to collect. Students/visitors will be collecting stamps and they can redeem rewards at the Reward Redemption Booth based on points collected from all the booths they have participated at. More information regarding this will be given in the competition WhatsApp group.
The winning booth will be determined based on attractive decoration, engaging activities, and alignment with the theme.
The registration deadline is 22 October 2024 (Tuesday) at 05:00 p.m., and no late entries will be accepted.
Students can decorate their booths at the Sports Complex, UMPSA, one day prior to the UMPSA LCC 2024 event. The booth competition begins at 9:00 a.m. on 9 November 2024, with judging concluding at 11:00 a.m. Booths must remain open until 12:30 p.m. and resume activities after the HE ELCa 2024 Closing Ceremony until 5:00 p.m.
BOOTH LAYOUT
By default, the organiser will provide TWO (2) tables and TWO (2) chairs.

DOs:
Plan your booth layout and design in advance to make the most of the space provided.
Bring visually appealing displays, such as posters and any interactive elements, to attract visitors.
Engage with visitors actively and courteously, answering questions and providing information about your exhibit.
Utilize technology effectively, such as laptops, tablets, or multimedia presentations, to enhance your booth.
Keep your booth area tidy and organized throughout the exhibition.
Respect the rules and regulations of the Sport Complex and the event organisers.
DON’Ts:
Do not bring food into the Sports Complex, UMPSA, Gambang campus.
Avoid any water or fire-based activities, as they may pose safety hazards in the indoor environment.
Do not use strong adhesives or materials that could damage the floor or the Sports Complex.
Refrain from obstructing walkways or blocking other exhibitors’ booths with your display.
Avoid creating excessive noise or disruptions that may disturb other exhibitors or visitors.
Avoid using offensive or inappropriate language, imagery, or behaviour in your booth.
Do not distribute unauthorized promotional materials or solicitations outside of your designated booth area.
Retrain from altering or tampering with any equipment or infrastructure within the Sports Complex.
Do not forget to clean up your booth area and dispose of any waste properly before leaving the Sports Complex.

Evaluation Criteria 📝:
1. Output must reflect a work of art and should exhibit originality.
2. The booth design must be creative, the presentation structure must be strong with clear information and ideas.
3. Good language proficiency (the presentation can be in English or Malay).
4. The booth design and activities should reflect the theme and the language/country it represents.
5. Booth design should artfully incorporate recycled materials.
Creativity and Originality - 30%
Presentation and language proficiency - 30%
Adherence with theme (relevance of the design to the theme) - 20%
Language/ Cultural activities with visitors (engagement, new information learned) - 20%
TOTAL = 100%
The judges’ decision is final, and evaluation is based on the competition evaluation criteria.
Prizes 🥇🥈🥉:
1. All winners will receive certificates and prizes valued up to the following amounts:
🥇1st place: RM250
🥈2nd place: RM150
🥉3rd place: RM100
🏅Consolation prize x 3: RM50 each
2. Participants other than the winners will receive an e-certificate.
3. Winners will receive one printed certificate for each competition. If winners and participants would like to have an additional printed certificate, the certificate can be purchased for RM10.00 each by filling up required details in a link that will be provided.
