Alex manages all of the lab's research activities. On any given day, you could find him planting cover crops, order seeds, collaborating with research partners, and teaching both research skills and life lessons to ELAI lab students.
His professional superpower is keeping the big picture in mind and keeping the team focused on the future.
His personal superpower is making vegetables and fruits flourish in his extensive home greenhouse and garden.
Katie graduated from being an MS student to full time ELAI lab staff in 2022. Her master's thesis covered various means for increasing cover crop adoption in the US Midwest. As staff, she oversees all of the lab's outreach and education activities.
Her professional superpower is taking big ideas and charting a path to turn them into reality.
Her personal superpower is making delicious meals out of tofu, beans, and vegetables.
Julija is a former ELAI lab student who graduated with an MS (2019) and PhD (2022) in Agronomy and Plant Genetics. She current works as a post-doctoral associate for the lab where she writes research manuscripts and develops education curriculum.
Her professional superpower is transforming data and abstract concepts into compelling stories.
Her personal superpower is crushing Washington state's many hiking and cross country ski trails
