Researchers are working on projects at the interface of inorganic and materials chemistry. In one project, we collaborate with the Professor David Blank and his group to understand the mechanism of charge separation in dye-sensitized solar cells. The project involves preparing dyads comprising metal oxide nanocrystals and organic or inorganic dye molecules. Using ultrafast spectroscopic methods the excited state electron transfer rates are measured allowing insight into the reaction mechanism.
In another project, we are studying the mechanism of chemical vapor deposition and related processes using computational methods, in collaboration with Professor Jason Goodpaster.
