Undergraduate Physiology Society [UPS] (not to be confused with the United Parcel Service) is a group of University of Minnesota undergraduate students who are passionate about physiology and the human body. Founded in 2009, UPS is student-governed, and affiliated with the department of Integrative Biology and Physiology, with Dr. Vincent Barnett as our advisor. Although many members are physiology majors, this is not a requirement for membership, and we encourage non-majors to attend our meetings and events. UPS serves to build a community between undergraduate physiology majors, as well as any students interested in the field of human physiology. UPS has social and educational events several times per month, along with service projects to build the growing community of undergraduate students interested in physiology. We introduce guest speakers at each meeting, including IBP faculty and staff, physiology alumni, professors and TAs, and more. UPS also organizes tours of research labs and field trips to events in the surrounding community.
Our Mission: Our mission is to connect University of Minnesota students interested in physiology to resources within the Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology in the hopes of fostering academic and scientific interests, and to represent physiology students to the wider university community through social events and community involvement.
