The Twin Cities boasts a large network of independent bookstores of all shapes and sizes. These are some of our favorites.
Minnesota's largest University Bookstore. Don't be fooled by the winding aisles of apparel and college memorabilia. Head to the back of the store to find a sprawling book section with a wide variety of titles. Keep an eye out for our UBC monthly shelf markers!
Our very own Dinkytown bookstore. Spend hours lost in the stacks and find one of the most unique selection of used books in Minneapolis. Looking for a super-specific genre? Yes, you can find a section for it here.
One of our favorite indies, right down Washington Ave off West Bank. Milkweed Books is a local press and The Open Book is home to their bookstore. Milkweed has a huge selection of their own titles and popular titles from poetry to general fiction. Plus, their booksellers are the best to chat all things books with. As a bonus, grab a drink from FRGMT coffee while you browse.
Minnesota's very first romance bookstore. A short metro ride from campus, Tropes and Trifles has a huge selection of all kinds of romance. If you're a romance lover, you'd be hard-pressed to walk out empty handed.
One of Minneapolis's newest indies, Inkwell Booksellers is home to a large book selection, a cafe and spacious lounge seating. The bookstore is full of natural light and is dog-friendly.
A beautiful bookstore located right on Nicollet Mall. Home to a carefully curated, diverse selection of books from Strive's own publishing company and more.
One of our favorite St. Paul bookstores, Black Garnet Books offers a curated selection of books and art by authors and illustrators of color. In their beautiful space, you'll want to stick around and browse all day.
Boneshaker Books is a volunteer-run, radical bookstore based in the Seward neighborhood. In their cozy store, you're sure to find a new read and spark new interests.
A massive independent bookstore home to a wide variety of genres and a large used book section. The bookstore regularly hosts literary events for adults and kids alike. The colorful walls and fun decor make this one of the most unique bookstores in the city.
Get your fix of romance from the folks at Swoonworthy Booksellers. This pop-up bookstore can be found at events all over the Twin Cities or at their permanent pop up location in WBL.
