The Women in STEMM Summit is a collaborative effort to build a shared agenda around advancing gender equity in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM) at the University of Minnesota. The historic lack of collaboration among Women in STEMM groups at the University of Minnesota has hindered our collective capacity to promote gender equity in STEMM.
We will hold a 2021 Women in STEMM Summit to bring groups from across the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus together to build on the foundation we laid during the 2019 Women in STEMM Summit towards stronger collaborations and greater visibility of women and nonbinary people in STEMM across our campus. By unifying people of all genders in STEMM fields, we hope to empower and amplify their voices to achieve work beyond what is possible individually.
1) Promote visibility of the gender equity work done by UMN Women in STEMM groups
2) Strengthen and continue to build on the original goals for the 2019 Summit, which were to:
3) Develop strategic communications strategies
4) Engage people of all genders
5) Facilitate positive women role modeling that supports organizational transitions
