Non-ACGME-accredited, 1 year advanced fellowship
The University of Minnesota Cardiovascular Division established an Advanced Interventional Cardiology Fellowship in Structural Heart Disease in 2014. Our fellowship program is very progressive with a structured curriculum and emphasis on patient care skills, developing procedural skills and research. The program is designed to provide widespread clinical and academic education that covers a collegial working relationship with a dedicated team of Interventional Cardiologists at the University of Minnesota, the VA Medical Center, and Fairview Southdale.
This one-year, non-accredited fellowship is designed for interventional cardiology fellows whose career focus is on catheter-based therapy for valvular and myocardial lesions. The training provides experience in the interventional and medical therapy of structural heart disease with a special focus on transcatheter valve therapeutics. This program is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary fellowship with supervised training in evaluating patients and participating in the full spectrum of transcatheter structural heart procedures, including aortic and mitral valve therapies, atrial and ventricular septal occlusion, catheter-based repair of mitral regurgitation, and left atrial appendage intervention with a specific emphasis on transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
To be eligible, applicants must have successfully completed a three year ACGME-accredited Cardiovascular Disease fellowship as well as a one-year, ACGME-accredited Interventional Cardiology Fellowship. In addition, all applicants must be board eligible in both Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology at the start of training.
