My name is Susanne Jones and I am a professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. My research focuses on interpersonal communication processes, specifically supportive communication and emotion regulation. I also examine how mindfulness influences the supportive communication process. I completed my degrees at Arizona State University, Indiana University, and Georgia Southern University. I am originally from Hamburg, Germany. I also grew up in Swakopmund and Windhoek, both cities in Namibia.

I am very passionate about Dobermans, dog sports, and dog training. This is my Doberman girl, Ronja. She is my trust-fund Doberman companion and a pure joy. She and I are doing all kinds of shenanigans when I am not educating young minds. We're active around the Twin Cities in obedience, rally, nosework, and barnhunt. She's also a certified therapy dog. Ronja's proper kennel name is UKC CH Protea's Ramble On BN RA DCAT SCN SIN ORT RATS THDN CGC TKA WAC. The letter salad means that she won tons of titles--smart cookie. Fun fact: Her kennel name is based on the South African national flower, the Protea and Ramble On, a Led Zeppelin song. Her call name, Ronja, is based on an Astrid Lindgren-story, Ronja, the Robber's Daughter. There you have it!
