KEY:
Site Name Conventions in ISMTrack and EDDMapS
IS IT PUBLIC LAND or OWNED BY AN INSTITUTION?
IF yes,
use the public name of the public land or institution site. Preferably followed by a hyphen with the town or county name to make duplicate names unique: (examples below)
((the problem here is that there are multiple Mud Lakes in the same county - and they may not be near a city.))
Is it a rural site that is privately owned?
Is it a Rail Road(RR)
Is it a Right of Way (ROW) site?
Use the name of the road and mile marker (MM#) number/s or Fire (F#) Examples: Highway 61 midway between MP 18 and 19 on W Stagecoach Trail, N of MM# 4 CP (SOO), ¼ mi S of MP 21
Fire numbers could also be used to define the location on the ROW.
Is it a private home in urban or suburban areas
Private lands
Use a Parcel Identification Number (PIN) number to name the site of urban private land (You will need to know the site's county to do this). In the description type the physical address.
Use the name of the municipality, neighborhood (if applicable) and a unique number
Examples: St. Paul, Phalen, 0001
Thief River Falls, 0001
Ensuring that numbers are unique would be challenging without an autofill or lookup.

To see railroads, scroll down in the Layers dialog box to Other Roads. Check Railroads and Abandoned Railroads (if you want to see abandoned). There are no milepost markers available for railroads with this map.
Autofill fields that provide some location information
These fields help us distinguish between duplicate site names such as Central Park. There will not be two Central Parks within the same township.
