Doctor of Pharmacy Overview

Welcome to the Doctor of Pharmacy program at the University of Minnesota! We are excited to have you in our program and see you grow to become an amazing pharmacist.

The PharmD program has more volume, is faster-paced, and is more complex than what you might be used to - and it increases into 2nd year.
You might experience some challenges in your academic and personal life throughout the program, which might require support and changes.

We have different academic support and resources for students, including Academic Skills Coaching. Academic Skills Coaching focuses to assist students to be more efficient and effective in their studies, so students can better balance their academics and well-being.

How can you better prepare for the first year of the program?

Everyone has different experiences, different expectations, and different learning styles, so preparation for the PharmD program will look different for each individual. However, we recommend every student be proactive in their study and preparation. You will find some resources on this page that will help not only reflect and identify but also strategies for your study habits. If you find yourself needing someone to discuss more resources and individualized and personalized goals, please reach out to Liz Hwang, our Academic Skills Coach.
