Description

The Dashboard can help you look closely at the open education activities of individual instructors.

People

To look at an individual instructor, either click on their name where you see it appear anywhere in the Dashboard, or select their name from the Faculty Search function in the upper right corner of any page, and click Show.

Each person's information is contained on four tabs:

Details

The Details tab includes the person's basic information, including name, email, institution, and department. There is also a space to keep your notes about this instructor.

By clicking on the Muted checkbox, you can "mute" someone, which ensures that the Dashboard will never send them an email.

This screen also shows a list of all programs that this instructor has been part of, and the cost of their participation in the program.

You can also create tags to categorize this person in reports (e.g., "Potential Faculty Champion").

Activity Requests

The Activity Requests tab shows all activity requests made by the Dashboard to the instructor. This includes the title of the request, the type, the status of communications by the Dashboard to the instructor, the deadline of the request (which can be extended or changed on an individual basis from this window), indication of whether the request was completed, indication of whether an incentive was given (if that's being tracked), and indication of whether the instructor has completed a related survey (if applicable).

If you've communicated with the instructor outside the Dashboard (via email, hallway conversation, etc.). You can also manually change the Last Contacted date so the system knows when this instructor was last communicated with.

Completed Reviews

The Completed Reviews tab shows all reviews that the instructor has completed of textbooks in the Open Textbook Library. To edit a review, click the pencil icon in the Edit column.

Adoptions

The Adoptions tab allows you to view, add, edit, or delete OER adoptions of this instructor.

Each adoption record can include information about the course designator, the title of the adopted OER(s), the title of the replaced textbook(s), the cost of the replaced textbook(s), the first year of adoption, and the program(s) to attribute the adoption to.

For each adoption, you can edit enrollment numbers for each academic term.

You can also create your own tags to help organize your data in reports. Tags can be viewed and edited under the Tags tab. To edit a tag, click the name of the tag. In the  Tag Summary window, click the pencil icon next to the tag name, and click the Rename button. This will update the tag wherever it appears within your dashboard.

While the system automatically tracks when the instructor's adoption and enrollment data was last updated, you can also change that date manually here.

Adding an Adoption

To begin, add the course for which an  OER has been adopted.

If it isn't already listed, click the +Course button, and add the name of your course and click Save.

Adding an Adoption

Once the course has been added, click on the course name to view the full context of that course. To add an adoption, click the +Adoption button and enter the  adoption and replaced textbook details. Click Save.

This is the same method that you will use to add an additional adoption to a course in which more than one OER has been adopted.
