This estimation cost calculator allows producers to input farm specific data which will show how much Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae is costing them. This calculator aims to provide an idea of how much this disease is impacting producers, and hopefully encourages an elimination program in our sow farms. This calculator was created by UMN DVM student Kaydance Hinn, who won the Morrison Swine Innovator Prize for this calculator. This project is in collaboration with Dr. Paul Yeske, Dr. Maria Pieters, MN Swine Health Task Force, and MN Pork Board. Check out our calculator below.
Dr. Amand Sponheim,Dr. Eduardo Fano and Dr. Maria Pieters have worked on a collaborative program to create an eradication roadmap for Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae. This roadmap has different paths that you can follow in order to rid your barn of MHP. It is also filled with various resources you can use to achieve eradication. Here at the Mycoplasma lab, researchers will travel to farms and collect various samples from pigs in order to run specific tests. Over the years, the lab has done several research studies looking at which types of samples are the best. Watch the videos below to learn more about some of the sample types we collect!
