PEDAL project: University of West Bohemia, Faculty of Education
Funded by the Czech Science Foundation
The aim of the PEDAL (researching transitions of young people with intellectual disabilities) project is to fill the gaps in the current knowledge of the lived experience of young people with intellectual disabilities in the key period of transition from school to adult life. The research team combines social science methods with performative arts and new media approaches in an innovative way.
Výzkumný tým inovativním způsobem kombinuje výzkumné společenskovědní metody s performativním uměním a přístupy nových médií.

"There's a letter on it called graffiti. There's a Taryman...enjoy the movement, he's a youtuber who is dedicated to getting people moving. Because everybody's on the computer these days, I mean that figuratively. He can snap them out of their lethargy... in every way. Even jump, actually. The thing is, he can be serious and also very funny in those videos. A lot of people say he's a road pirate or something. Nobody's perfect, what happened happened. He makes videos with his big friend Jay, who's also a parkour player, making fun of him, but the important thing about those jokes is that they're making fun of each other, that they're taking it as a joke. Tary, a guy from the Ukraine, he was able to climb up, very high, that he's doing all these various events."

During the workshops, the participant prepares drawings, uses props, accessories, and costumes to make a still life using pictures, and helps the author express it. The expression means to enjoy being part of their picture. Interviews help to explicate the meaning of the pictures.
