If your agency or tribe does not currently use the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy for Foster Parent Training, contact us at info@mnchildwelfaretraining.com for more information.
Through its expanded partnership with Foster Parent College (FPC), the Minnesota Department of Human Services is proud to offer its families, counties and tribes the entirety of the FPC catalog at no cost. This unlimited access offers more than 70 eLearning modules located in FPC website and is available to any county or tribe in Minnesota regardless of whether they train with the Minnesota Foster Parent College Pre-service curriculum.
Please watch this video to learn how to register participants in the FPC portal.
This video will show you how to create a series on the FPC website to generate a pre-service training for the desired dates and enroll participants.
When planning to provide an agency delivered Minnesota Foster Parent College (FPC) Pre-service Training Series, the agency will need to inform the MNCWTA using the Report an Agency-Delivered Training form. This notifies the MNCWTA FPC Operations Specialist that a pre-service training series will occur and it is noted for internal tracking and reporting. No further contact with Academy staff is necessary as this training delivery is self-managed.
Upon the successful completion of the Minnesota FPC Pre-service Training, the resource family will be able to supply their licensor with a transcript documenting the hours earned and a certificate will be available on the Foster Parent College website that is accessible to the licensor as well as to the family.
The delivery of Foster Parent Training curriculum is viewed as a partnership and the licensor is expected to remain in contact with participants prior to and during the training series and monitor their progress in the FPC portal.
Academy Trainers will be responsible for the delivery of Minnesota Blended Pre-service Foster Parent meetings and ensuring that participants understand the content. They are the primary contact for licensors and families that have questions related to a training that is in progress. If prompts and reminders to complete assigned coursework between meetings is necessary, this communication is the responsibility of the Trainer.
