Mindfulness for Students
Who are we?
We are a non-denominational meditation group run by UMN students. Through our meetings we practice kindness and connection towards our bodies, minds, spirits, and community. We warmly welcome any students, staff, faculty, alum, and community members to attend our meetings.
No prior meditation experience is needed, and newcomers are welcome anytime. No registration or payment is required.
Co-Presidents: Maria Arriola & Aidan Sponheim
Officers: Elizabeth Zanmiller
What do we do?
Each one hour meeting will be flexibly structured around this outline:
Land acknowledgement that the University stands on the homelands of the Dakota people
20 minute meditation
Note: For Fall 2020 we are tentatively deciding to pause inviting local meditation teachers to our meetings. While this has been a very special part of the Mindfulness Club experience in the past, this decision is in part to ease the work in running the club for club officers during these times. We look forward to resuming inviting local meditation teachers when the time is right!
When do we meet?
For Fall 2020, we will meet over Zoom most Friday nights from 7:30 - 8:30 pm.
What is the Zoom link?
The Zoom link is https://umn.zoom.us/j/91485061353.
We warmly welcome anyone from the University community who joins with right intention. Officers at each meeting will be intentional about removing people with disruptive Zoombombing actions.
How do I join or view the Slack channel?
What is the Slack channel for?
The Slack channel is to serve as connective tissue between our meetings. It is for casual group conversation, following up 1:1 with other members through the Slack messaging system, sharing mindfulness resources/events, etc.
Since in-person meetings and hangouts are extremely limited for Fall 2020, we are piloting this channel in hopes to fulfill some of the needs for community and connection.
