Courses taught in Spring 2024:
ARCH 5313: Visual Communication Techniques in Architecture. "This course foregrounds a set of visual strategies for architectural research. Through a combination of assigned readings, tutorials, and exercises for architectural production, the strategies are positioned to enable architectural researchers to engage observable and measurable dimensions of human experience and documentary evidence while acknowledging the persistence of interpretability, the knowledge-production capacity of representation, and the inevitability of concepts that defy mutual reconciliation in any obvious or predetermined way."
ARCH 8254: Technical Applications in Design (M. Arch. Studio, GD2). "Design potential inherent in technical development process of design project. Testing concepts, developing details, integrating building systems. Structural bay enclosure, cost considerations, regulatory compliance. Building-information modeling, analog/digital representations in architecture document production."
Courses taught in Fall 2023:
ARCH 2301: Drawing and Critical Thinking. "This course provides an in-depth foundation for understanding how drawing functions as a discipline-specific way of thinking, brings self-critical precision to non-verbal production, and supports processes of conceptual exploration."
ARCH 5562: Introduction to Building Technology. "Students completing this course will be able to demonstrate an introductory-level understanding of major established and emerging systems, technologies, and assemblies of building construction, and the methods and criteria architects use to assess those technologies against the design, economic, and performance objectives of projects."
