How to access LEAP
Creating a new course in LEAP
Adding other instructors to your course
Layout of the Courses page
Navigate to https://leap.cse.umn.edu/courses. If you are logging in for the first time, or if you have been inactive for a period of time, you will be asked to login with your University of Minnesota username and password.
It's a common mistake to forget the "/courses" at the end of the url. If you instead go to https://leap.cse.umn.edu , you will find release notes showing the changes and features added in the latest patch.
This page is your "dashboard" as an instructor. If you believe that a course has already been created for you, it will appear in a table as shown above.
Note, if you do not see your course right away, try adjusting the "Filter By Term" pulldown menu in the upper-left above the table. (An automatic default term is assigned if not specified during creation).
To create a new course, Select the blue "New Course" button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
In the drawer that opens on the right side of the screen, you can give your course a label, as well as select the term. Selection of a term does not restrict the use of the course in any way, it simply provides instructors a convenient way to sort and filter courses.
Click the blue "Submit" button in the lower right corner to save the course and return to your Courses page.
From your Courses page, find your course in the table. Click the three dots at the far right. Select the "Edit" option in the menu that opens up.
In the course settings drawer that opens to the right hand side of the screen, enter the email addresses for additional instructors under the "Priveleged Users" section. You must use University of Minnesota email accounts. Here you can also adjust the permissions allowed for new instructors.
Click the blue "Update" button in the lower right corner of the drawer to save your changes and return to the Courses page.
Within the table on the Courses page, each course has several options available. The first button, labeled "Assignments" opens up the main page for each individual course. You will spend most of your working time in LEAP on this page as an instructor. From here you can build new assignments, view student results on an individual assignment, and set due dates or settings on assignments. See Create Assignment for more information.
The second button, labeled "Results", gives options to download a csv file that contains all recorded student data to date for that course. See Results for more information.
Finally, the three vertical dots at the far right side of the table open up a menu with several options:
Edit: opens a drawer where you can add or remove other instructors, change instructor permissions, change your course label or name, and change the term your course is sorted by.
Duplicate: opens a drawer that allows you to copy an entire course.
Delete: delete the course from LEAP. A warning message pops up to check that you're sure about this action.
