Some notes from old MACAA files

  • 1922 -- K.A. Kirkpatrick was President and W.K. Dyer was Secretary. One meeting of the Association was held under a tree.

  • The 5th annual meeting was held on November 17, 1923.

  • They held summer meetings of the Association in early years with good attendance.

  • 1925 -- There was a big discussion on member dues at the annual meeting.

  • There was discussion of advanced study and its merit back in 1927-28. This came up again in the 30's.

  • In December 1928, Director Peck reported on the budget from the state legislature. The state has appropriated $85,775. They turned down a $230,000 request.

  • For several years there was an Association meeting during Farm and Home Week in January.

  • In January 1929, the Association voted to investigate group life insurance.

  • 1932 -- Hank Werner commented relative to parents "Big Shots" of boys and girls being kept out of the show ring.

  • 1936 -- A new committee, Benevolence and Contribution, Frank Svoboda reported that a number of agents would be expected to pass cigars.

  • 1940 -- Director Miller reported now was not the time to get University rank or Sabbatical Leave.

  • 1941 -- 4-H Committee is to check state office on passes at State Fair and how handled.

  • 1941 -- Question of classifying beef animal by weight instead of age. This would eliminate date of birth.

  • 1941 -- Murphy discussed progress of retirement committee work and Federal Retirement.
