I mostly write papers. It's work, but it's also a lot of fun.
During the pandemic I took up a hobby, astrophotography, or taking pictures of nebulas and galaxies. I put some of the prettier ones here and here.
We take a medieval approach to occupation choice in my family. My father, Melvin Waldfogel, was an art history professor at the University of Minnesota from 1955-1985. My wife, Mary Benner and I are both professors at the University of Minnesota. Our children, Sarah Benner Waldfogel and Hannah Benner Waldfogel, continue plying the family trade in other venues.
The picture at left was taken at the 18th century Stockholm Observatory, which I toured on a visit to the Stockholm School of Economics in 2024.
