I am a passionate social studies educator with nearly 20 years of teaching and research experience. Currently, I am an assistant professor of Education & Youth Studies at Beloit College and a Research Fellow at the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Minnesota. Previously, I taught social studies at every grade from 5th to 12th in public, charter, and private schools in Minnesota and Wisconsin, as well as two years at a bilingual international school in Vienna, Austria.
I also have a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and Social Studies Education, with a minor in Human Rights, from the University of Minnesota. Broadly, my research interests include Holocaust, genocide, and human rights education in PreK-12 curricula and classrooms. Situated within the burgeoning field of settler colonial studies, my research examines settlerness in genocide education in the United States and Canada.
