Tri-Law School Earth Day Cleanup
EELS partnered with the Environmental Law Society at Univ. of St. Thomas and Mitchell-Hamline Law Schools to host a 2023 Earth Day Cleanup at Loring Park.

As part of Earth Week 2023, EELS hosted Minnesota Brownfields and Sharon Stephens from the MPCA for a conversation about brownfield development!
EELS Annual Barbecue
EELS hosts an annual Earth Day Barbecue. April 23, 2022 brought the first in-person event in two years! EELS hosted the annual BBQ at the West Bank Softball Fields in 2023.
Water Law Webinar
In April 2022, EELS hosted Elise Larson and Louis Smith in a webinar speaking about how water is at the heart of environmental litigation in Minnesota.
Wolf Protection & Litigation
In November 2021, EELS hosted Collette Adkins (UMN Law c/o 2005 and the Carnivore Conservation Director and Senior Attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity. This speaker event discussed legal protections of wolves in light of recent wolf hunting litigation in Wisconsin.
EELS Social "Pods"
EELS has hosted social events facilitated by groups of board members or "pods" since 2020. Social events have included trivia events virtually and at a local brewery, a hike, a cookie decorating social, a tour of a municipal waste center, happy hour, and curling.
Resource Grabbing & COVID-19: How the Pandemic Has Contributed to Weakening Protections for Environmental Rights
In April 2021, EELS hosted two guest lecturers, Carlos Lozana Acosta (AIDA's Freshwater Program) and Juliana Nnoko-Mewanu (Human Rights Watch Women's Rights Division), discussing how the COVID-19 pandemic has dismantled some existing environmental protections and rights for indigenous, minority, and rural community rights.
Canvassing for Our Streets Minneapolis
Our Streets Minneapolis is leading an initiative to increase safe accessibility and equity in the city's transportation systems and communities. EELS canvassed with the organization in Spring 2022 to help spread the word about a proposed revitalization plan for Olson Memorial Highway.
