The New York Fed - Demystifying a Career Path in Economics and Advancing Diversity (MAY 25)

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is invited college students and professors nationwide to attend their webinar: "Demystifying a Career Path in Economics and Advancing Diversity, Spring 2022" to be held on Wednesday, May 25, from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.

The webinar will provide information about careers in economics and aims to broaden awareness of opportunities in the field across a more diverse talent pool. New York Fed economists and research analysts (RAs) will discuss the path to become an economist, why they chose careers in economics, their experience in the field, and the importance of expanding diversity in the profession.

Economists and RAs, as well as representatives from the Bank's People and Engagement department, will also talk about:

  • Tips for success in the field of economics (college and beyond)

  • Potential career paths at the New York Fed and in the wider marketplace

  • The role of RAs and college-level interns in the Bank

  • Career-planning resources and mentoring information

Additionally, staff from Outreach and Education and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will share an overview of the Federal Reserve System. Participants can submit questions in advance when registering for the webinar. There will also be opportunities for Q&A during the webinar.

Alternative Money University Economics Workshop (AUG 7-10)

After successful sessions in 2018 and 2019, the Center for Monetary and Financial Alternatives will host the third addition of Alternative Money University (AMU). AMU is an all-expenses paid monetary economics workshop for advanced undergraduate and grad students, from August 7-10, 2022. Students will stay in a hotel next to the Cato Institute's headquarters so they may enjoy in-person workshop seminars with Lawrence White, David Beckworth, and George Selgin. In addition, there will be a keynote lecture from Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller.

There are only 30 slots available and then extended application period closes on April 30th so do no delay applying!
