Having a simple, effective, and inexpensive device that can aid in the diagnosis of postpartum hemorrhage will greatly benefit those across the globe and reduce maternal death rates.

United States

In the United States in 2018, 3,791,712 babies were born. Of those births, 2,581,992 were vaginal deliveries and 1,208,176 (31.9%) were Cesarean [1]. It is estimated that postpartum hemorrhage occurs in 3-5% of deliveries in the US, which corresponds to about 150,000 cases per year, with more cases occurring during Cesarean deliveries [2].
